We take on commercial construction and tenant improvements across Sedona and the Verde Valley — ground-up buildings, and fitting out an existing space for a new tenant or a changed use. The projects below are ours.

Restaurants, retail, offices and resorts.

Much of our commercial work happens while the doors stay open. We sequence around your business hours, keep the disruption contained, and push to get you open to the public on schedule.

Clinkscale

A full remodel of the Clinkscale in Jerome — hotel, bar and grill — completed in 2020. The building was 120 years old when we took it on.

The focus was the historic elements — keeping them and restoring them rather than tearing them out. On a building that age those details are the whole character of the place, and once they are gone you do not get them back.

Seven Canyons Clubhouse

Clubhouse remodel · Seven Canyons, Sedona · Phase 1 completed 2025 · Kirkwood as remodel general contractor

A clubhouse is a building a whole community already has opinions about.

That is what separates it from a house. On a private home you answer to the owners. On a clubhouse you are working inside a building people already know well, and the job is to make it better without making it unfamiliar.

The club stayed open while we worked. Members kept using the building through the remodel.

Phase 1 opened the building out to what it sits in. The dining room now runs through full-height glass set between stone columns onto a covered terrace, and the terrace is roofed with an adjustable louvered pergola rather than left open, so it holds up across more of the year. Stone, heavy timber and a stacked stone fireplace carry the character of the existing building into the new work.

Remodel work asks for something different from new construction. You inherit decisions someone else made, you find what is actually behind the walls once they are open, and you work it out without the building losing what made it worth keeping.

Agave Villas

A commercial property in Sedona converted into short-term rentals, with Kirkwood as general contractor start to finish.

The hard part inside was the mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Updating all three in an existing commercial building so it could work as a rental was the real challenge on this job. Outside, it was the neighbors. The businesses nearby stayed open the whole time we worked. Deliveries, access, parking, noise — all of it had to be sequenced so nobody next door lost a day. A neighbor who cannot open is a real cost to somebody, and it is not something you fix afterwards.

The owner, Zandra Guerrero: “The spaces turned out absolutely beautiful, and the quality of work is top-notch.”

If you have a commercial project coming up, tell us about it and we will work out how to build it around your hours.
